Installation trends

  • As of March 31, 2026, about 118.7 GW of utility-scale solar and 56.09 GW of wind capacity had been commissioned in India, while another 58.20 GW of utility-scale solar and 17.36 GW of wind capacity is under pipeline (where auctions have been completed).
  • As of March 31, 2026, Rajasthan has installed maximum Solar and capacity of 43.46 GW followed by Gujarat (37.89 GW) and Tamil Nadu (24.15 GW). Together these top three states accounted for 60.3% of the total solar and wind installations.
  • In FY2026, about 2,569 MWh of BESS and 2,430 MWh of Pumped Hydro Storage (PHS) capacity were commissioned in India.
  • In FY2026, the top three states with maximum installed solar and wind capacity were Rajasthan (12.2 GW), Gujarat (11.9 GW), and Maharashtra (6.8 GW). Together these top three states accounted for 75.8% of the solar and wind installations in FY2026.

  • For next year i.e. FY2027, approximately 41.4 GW of new utility-scale solar, and 6.9 GW of wind capacity are expected to be commissioned.

Annual Market shares - FY2026

  • Modules: Waaree, Rayzon and Adani were the top three module suppliers in India in FY2026, constituting 28.5% of all shipments.
  • Inverters: Sungrow, Sineng, TBEA and FIMER were the top four inverter suppliers in India in FY2026, constituting 71.42% of all shipments.
  • Wind Turbines: Envision, Adani and Suzlon were the top three wind turbine OEMs that have commissioned the maximum wind capacity in India in FY2026.
  • DISCOM PPA: NTPC Limited, Adani and SJVN were the top three project developers which have commissioned maximum utility scale solar and wind projects in India in FY2026.
  • Private PPA (Open Access): Serentica Renewables, Cleanmax and Tata Power were the top three developers that have commissioned maximum open access capacity in FY2026.
  • Utility-Scale EPC Contractors: Sterling & Wilson, Tata Power and Jakson Green were the leading EPC contractors in India in FY2026.
  • Rooftop/Onsite model: Tata Power Solar, Roofsol and Kalpa Power were the leading players that have setup maximum projects under the rooftop/onsite solar category in FY2026.
