RE Updates
Quick Summary:
- Tenders: July 2026 saw the issuance of 21 RE tenders under EPC and project development segments.
Project Development: In July 2026, 1133 MW RE tenders across RE with Storage and Solar segments along with 1119.5 MW/ 2583 MWh Standalone Storage tenders were issued.
EPC: Over 877 MW of EPC RE tenders across solar, RE with Storage and Wind segment along with 750 MW/ 2000 MWh Standalone BESS tenders were issued in July 2026.
MPPMCL issued tender for development of 625 MW/1250 MWh Standalone BESS project in Madhya Pradesh
- Auction Completed: In July 2026, 3295 MW of renewable energy capacity were awarded. Wind accounted for 2095 MW of this, with the balance 1200 MW awarded under NHPC solar tender to Coal India and NLC India Renewables. During the month, CIL’s 20 MW Floating Solar tender was awarded to Northern Express Infra Developers, along with NTPC REL’s 16.7 MW/100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow BESS tender, which was awarded to Bondada Engineering under EPC category.
- Installed Capacity: In June 2026, about 5106 MW of solar and 636.35 MW of wind capacity were added in the country, taking the cumulative RE capacity to 288 GW.

Sales Trends
Overall EV sales rose marginally by 0.72% month-on-month in July 2026 to reach 3,07,752 units. On a year-on-year basis, EV sales registered a 63.18% increase compared to July 2025, reflecting continued momentum in the country’s electric mobility market.
- Electric Two-Wheelers (E2W): Sales stood at 1,88,853 units, registered 2% m-o-m decline and 75% y-o-y increase. The top three players accounted for ~64% of total registrations.

Passenger Electric Three-Wheelers (E3W-P): Sales reached 73,005 units (+11% m-o-m, +21% y-o-y).
L3: 33,498 units
L5: 39,507 units
Cargo Electric Three-Wheelers (E3W-Cargo): Sales stood at 11,549 units (+0.82% m-o-m, +30% y-o-y).
L3: 6,840 units
L5: 4,709 units
Electric Cars (E-Cars): E-cars registered monthly sales of 30,806 units (-2% m-o-m, +81% y-o-y). Tata Motors led (~42.2%) the market, followed by Mahindra (~24.1%).
Electric Buses (E-Bus): E-Buses registered monthly sales of 534 units (-25% m-o-m, +36% y-o-y).

- Product Launches: 6 new launches have been recorded
- Policy Updates: 8 updates (5 state, 3 central), including – Meghalaya EV policy 2026 approval
- Charging Infrastructure: 13 developments, including India crosses 52,000 public EV charging stations
- E-Bus Developments: 4 updates, including the Delhi Cabinet has approved the procurement of 2,800 air-conditioned low-floor electric buses
- Key Manufacturing updates: 2 updates, including Amara Raja powers up INR 9,500 crore battery manufacturing push with first lithium-ion cell facility
- Investments & Partnerships: INR 818 crore investments and 11 new partnerships, including collaboration between Indofast Energy and Hala Mobility
