Mahalaya Paksha or Pitru Paksha is a 15 lunar day's period when homage is done to one's ancestors through various offerings, it also relieves one for any pitru dosha. During this period, its suggested to do various dhaanam. Among ten prescribed dhaanam, Godhanam / Donating a cow is one among them. Those who are not able to donate cows can serve cows by feeding grass, water and helping in its safety for the welfare of the entire family and generations to come. On this auspicious Mahalaya Amavasya October 14th 2023, feed the cows in our goshala by donating the suggested amount or any amount of your choice. As an offering to pitrus, Our Sastras recommended to offer the following to the cows during this Mahalaya Amavasya; 1. Soaked Green Gram, 2. Soaked Chickpea, 3. Soaked Sesame, 4.Soaked Raw Rice, 5. Chopped Raw Banana, 6. Agathi Leaves & 7. Jaggery.
