In a review published in the journal Trends in Plant Science on May 2, a plant ecologist suggested an approach for preventing all future land plant extinctions across the globe which includes training more plant experts, building an online "metaherbarium," and creating "microreserves."

Nasa launches two small satellites to track hurricanes
NASA has launched two small satellites from New Zealand to improve tropical storm tracking, potentially providing greater data for weather predictions. The satellites are capable of flying over typhoons or hurricanes hourly, instead of every six hours like their predecessors. The first satellite will remain in orbit for six months, measuring humidity, temperature and rainfall data by monitoring hurricanes.

MediaTek has introduced its new Dimensity 8050 chipset, which is built on the 6nm (N6) process node, featuring an octa-core processor with three Cortex-A78 performance cores and four efficient Cortex-A78 cores running on up to 2.6GHz and 2GHz frequencies, respectively. The chipset supports up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage. It has a 9-core ARM Mali G77 GPU and supports a maximum display resolution of 2520x1080 pixels with a maximum refresh rate of 168Hz.

iPhone 16 Pro models rumoured to have larger display
Reports suggest that iPhone 16 Pro models to launch in 2024 will have bigger displays than the current Pro Models. According to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the iPhone 16 Pro models may have display sizes of approximately 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. Young will disclose the exact display sizes during his presentation at the Display Week conference in Los Angeles on May 23. It is not yet clear if the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will also have bigger displays.
