Jeyamohan. Produced by Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, it is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Ponniyin Selvan Movie Shooting Locations Principal photography began on 11 December 2019 in Krabi, Kanchanaburi and other locations in Thailand, with the crew planning a shooting schedule for 40 days. In January 2020, the team planned to shoot for the second schedule in Chennai, but  moved to Puducherry. The second schedule of shooting took place on 3 February 2020 in Puducherry and was completed within six days. The team then moved to Hyderabad on February 10 for the next schedule, where the entire team planned to shoot in Ramoji Film City. The second schedule was completed on 26 February 2020. It was reported that Karthi suffered an accident during the shoot in Hyderabad, where he was thrown into the air while riding a horse, though he suffered only minor injuries. Till March 2020, the makers shot the bulk of the film for 90 days before being interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
