New Delhi: The first part of director Mani Ratnam's much-awaited historical film "Ponniyin Selvan" will release on September 30 this year, its makers Lyca Productions announced on Wednesday.
Congratulating its chairman Alliraja Subhaskaran on his birthday, the production house tweeted, "Wishing our chairman Alliraja Subhaskaran a very happy birthday! Golden Era will hit the big screens on 30th September!"
It also released the first look poster of the film along with the tweet.
The film is based on the classic Tamil novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' by renowned writer Kalki.
The fantastic story, which revolves around the early life of Prince Arulmozhi Varman, who later came to be known as the legendary Raja Raja Chozan, is one of a kind.
Dubbed as his dream project by Mani Ratnam, the film stars several top stars including actors Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Parthiban, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prabhu and Prakash Raj. This project will be the costliest project in the country till date.
The film is best in the business of handling each of its departments. AR Rahman is composing the music for this epic historical and cinematography has been done by Ravi Varman. National Award winning art director Thotta Tharani is in charge of production design while Mani Ratnam's trusted editor Sreekar Prasad is handling the editing.
