Chief Minister MK Stalin (Chief Minister MK Stalin) said on Monday that Tamil Nadu (Tamil NaduFair action has been taken in respect of incidents related to the recently concluded urban body elections. Senior AIADMK leader K Palaniswami said Stalin's remarks on Jayakumar were condemnable while the former minister handed over only one person to the police who tried to cast a "false vote" in north Chennai. In an open letter to party workers, Stalin said that the DMK faced the urban civic polls on the basis of people's faith in the government and the party did not consider the elections a political battle.

Stalin said the opposition parties used "insult and false propaganda" to hide their "defeat" against the DMK during campaigning and on election day as well. Referring to an election 'war room' set up at DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam in Chennai to coordinate with party workers on election day, he said appropriate legal steps were advised to be taken on election-related matters.

He said that fair action was taken even after DMK workers alleged minor violations at one or two places. However, as far as the opposition is concerned, they went beyond their limits and this was exposed by television channels and social media. Hitting out at Jayakumar for humiliating a DMK functionary, Stalin said the ruling party would face the matter legally and the opposition party would be exposed if this happens.
