Chandigarh DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel is the one who filed the criminal defamation petition against him in the Judicial Magistrate's court. He has said that Sidhu has failed to tender an unconditional apology for his remarks against the police during a rally in 2021.

He had said, 'If Ashwini Sekhri hits you with a push, the police officer's pants get wet.' When he was questioned on this statement, he said that he only said it jokingly. Sidhu even said that his statement has been distorted.

Earlier also Sidhu had made a similar objectionable statement at Navtej Seema's rally in Sultanpur Lodhi, which was opposed by DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel in Chandigarh Police. After his statement, Dilsher Chandel released a video condemning the statement of Punjab Congress President Navjot Sidhu and called it shameful. In his video, the DSP has targeted Sidhu and said that do not get immersed in the color of politics so much that even the martyrdom of the heroes is not visible.
Chandigarh's DSP had demanded to return the security
The DSP had further said that it is a matter of great shame that so many senior leaders are using such words about their own force and are insulting them. This force protects him and his family. He had said that Sidhu roams around with 10 to 20 policemen. If that's the case, then return that security. He further taunted Sidhu and said, 'Even a rickshaw driver does not listen to him without police force. They are just doing their duty. Politicians should not demoralize them by making such statements.
