AU alumnus' biosensor to detect Covid using sweat sample
Amit Dubey, a senior scientist at Quanta Calculus Greater Noida, has developed a biosensor that can detect Covid19 infection using sweat samples. Dubey's biosensor uses ultrasmall gold nanoclusters to detect Covid19, a virus that is known to cause severe respiratory illness in children. Dubey's study was published in "Luminescence the journal of biological and chemical luminescence." Dubey's biosensors would be a one-step identification or sensing technique in instances where traditional lab techniques are not readily available. Ultrasmall gold nanoclusters with diameters less than 2 nm are attracting increasing attention due to their unique sizedependent physicochemical properties which include strong luminescence and excellent biocompatibility. Dubey's main component of the biosensor is ultrasmall gold nanoclusters as gold is unreactive it means that when it comes in to contact with a substance the team wishes to measure — for example a potential disease biomarker present in sweat — it does not chemically alter that substance but instead as the ultrasmall gold nanoclusters are so fine they can provide a large surface for that biomarker to bind to and this is where the other components of the sensor come in. Dubey's

With spent forces, K Chandrasekhar Rao unlikely to impact Odisha
KCR, the Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President, is aspiring to emerge as a national challenger to the BJP. However, analysts express serious doubt about his experiment in Odisha, which kicked off with "spent forces" and leaders of yesterday who have almost faded in the state's political space. KCR's flight to Hyderabad had those who don't have any significant relevance in Odisha politics today join him, but it's unclear if they will be able to win the people's confidence with around a year left for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. There is not much time left for starting a party from scratch in a state where the stage is all set for a BJP versus BJD fight.
