Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu) urban body elections today (Urban Body Elections) Voting is going on amidst tight security arrangements. Keeping in mind the convenience of Divyang voters, ramps have been made for them. This polling is being held in the urban areas of 38 districts of Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu State Election Commission Web Streaming and CCTV Cameras (CCTV Cameras) The polling stations are being monitored through this and about one lakh police personnel have been deployed for security. The authorities said that arrangements for ramps and wheelchairs have also been made.
57,778 candidates are in the fray for 12,607 posts of ward members in 648 urban local bodies, including municipal corporations, municipalities and city panchayats, and voting is underway in over 31,000 polling stations. The polling time is from 7 am to 6 pm, but the last one hour has been reserved for the people affected by the corona virus to vote. The ruling DMK and its allies are fighting the elections together.
Counting of votes will be held on February 22
The counting of votes for the elections being held today will take place on February 22 and the newly elected members will take charge on March 2. Indirect elections for the mayor and deputy mayor of the corporation and the election of the president and vice-chairman of the municipality and the president and vice-chairman of the city panchayat will be held on March 4. Out of 57,778 candidates, 11,196 candidates are in the fray for corporator, 17,922 municipal ward members and 28,660 nagar panchayat ward members. Out of these, a total of 218 candidates have already been declared unopposed in different parts of the state.
5960 booths are sensitive
There are 5960 booths in the voting being held today, which are very sensitive. The enthusiasm in the minds of the people can be clearly seen about these elections being held after a long time. A total of 2.79 crore people are eligible for these elections, of which 1.42 crore are males, 1.37 crore are females and 4300 are third gender. DMK, AIADMK, BJP, Congress party leaders are trying their luck in these elections. Chief Minister MK Stalin casts his vote at a polling booth at SIET College in Teynampet, Chennai. After voting, CM and DMK President Stalin said, 'We are giving good governance not only to those who voted for us, but to all.'
