National Science Day is celebrated to felicitate the discovery of the 'Raman Effect'. C.V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for the discovery of Raman Effect. Science Week is also celebrated along with the National Science Day. He will give 21 awards at Vigyan Bhawan which will include SERB Women Excellence Awards, Augmenting Writing Skills For Articulating Research (AWSAR) awards, National Science and Technology and Communication Awards. Sir C.V. Raman and Raman Effect Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born on 7 November 1888 at Trichy, Tamil Nadu. On 28 February 1928, he started an experiment with K. S. Krishnan, what is now called the Raman Effects. Raman Effects are on Scattering of Light. He won the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics for "the scattering of light and for the discovery of the Raman effect" and became first Asian and first non-white to receive any Nobel Prize in the sciences.
