Ranji Trophy 2022, Yash Dhull: Yash Dhul, who led India to the 2022 Under-19 World Cup win under his captaincy, always knew that an easy debut in first-class cricket from the junior level would only happen if he was ready to face the challenges. For this reason, he got success in his first Ranji match for Delhi against Tamil Nadu.
The Under-19 World Cup winning captain has been a middle order batsman in his career. But against a strong team like Tamil Nadu, he opened the innings and scored 113 runs. Dhul said in an interview to PTI after the first day's play, I have had many coaches in my cricket career. But since childhood Rajesh Nagar sir guided me. He had said that I may have to open the innings in Ranji Trophy and I have to be ready for that.
There are many such instances in Delhi cricket when young cricketers, despite being talented, got lost in the initial glare. Dhul said, you have to adjust according to the requirement of the team and there is no question in it. I am ready to bat at any position. I have just started my career and I want to make a mark by consistently performing well.
He further said, so whenever you get a chance, take full advantage of it. When I was told that I would open the innings, I was mentally prepared. At this stage, along with cricketing technique, there is also the matter of mindset. If the mental attitude is right then the performance is also fine. I come down with complete mental preparation.
