Home Remedies for Black Spots on Face

Many black spots or dark patches can be easily lightened or eliminated to restore a glowing facial complexion. Dark spots, patches and other marks on the face may be due to excess secretion of melanin on the skin. Some factors that can lead to this condition include over exposure to the sun, hormone imbalance, pregnancy, certain medications, vitamin deficiencies, lack of sleep and too much stress.

Spots and patches on the face can be embarrassing and even lead to low self-esteem. Luckily, there are many possible treatments, such as acid peels and laser surgeries. Simple, natural home-made remedies also may reduce the appearance of spots and other blemishes on your face.

Lemon

The natural bleach and acidic properties in lemon makes it one of the most widely used remedy for this uneven skin problem. Remove one lime juice in a small bowl and using cotton balls dab it to the spots. Leave lemon for some time and then wash it using cold water. After applying lemon if your skin burns, then wash your skin, add water or honey to the bowl with lime juice and then repeat the procedure.

Catecholase enzyme in potato is well known for its ability to remove hyper pigmentation and blemishes from skin. This remedy is quite simple, just move potato slice on your face, neck and hands. An alternate way to use this remedy is by making a paste of peeled potato and then applying to the skin using cotton balls.

Aloe Vera

My favorite remedy to clear sun burns, tans, acne scars and spots is the one and only aloe vera gel. In many of my articles I have mentioned the benefits of aloe vera for getting healthy and glowing skin. Take aloe gel, apply it to the pigmented skin and leave it to dry. After it dries rinse it off using water. Repeat this remedy everyday to get back your beautiful skin.

Cucumber

Another popular and effective remedy is to use cucumber for lightening the freckles and scars on face. Keep cold cucumber slices on the spots daily for 10 minutes. This will definitely solve your problem and fade the pigmentation.

Tomatoes are also one of the best natural bleacher having acidic properties that help to clear dirt and unclog skin pores. The antioxidant in it repairs the dark pigmented skin cells making your face glow. Make a paste of tomato and apply to your spots for 15 minutes daily.

Buttermilk

Lactic acid present in buttermilk is very good for your skin. Brown spots can be removed with the help of buttermilk. Apply some buttermilk on your brown spots with the help of a cotton swab and let it rest on for a couple of minutes and then wash it with plain water. If you are having oily skin or acne then, add a little lemon juice to the buttermilk before applying. Otherwise you can try mixing 4 tsps of buttermilk with 2 tsps of tomato juice before applying on the affected area. The spots start to fade by doing this regularly.

Yogurt

Yogurt helps you to lighten brown spots in a natural way. Apply plain yogurt directly on the age spots and let it to dry for 20 minutes and then wash it with cold water. To get results instantly apply yogurt on the dark spots before going sleeping and leave it overnight. You can make a face pack by mixing 1 tbsp of plain yogurt, 2 tbsp of oatmeal powder and 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice. Apply this pack onto the affected skin and leave it for about half an hour. Apply any moisturiser, after rinsing it off with cold water. Repeat this every day for 1 – 2 months to get best results.

Sandalwood

Sandalwood is a best antiseptic and also acts as an anti-ageing agent. You can make a pack at home with some sandalwood powder, glycerin, rose water and lemon juice. Apply this home-made pack on the brown skin patches and leave it to dry on its own. Wash it off with cold water. Following this every day will eliminate dark spots on skin. Massage the affected skin area with sandalwood oil once in the night and leave it overnight for better results.

Horseradish

It is an extraordinary herb, which makes your skin spotless by removing age spots and freckles. Make horseradish paste and apply it onto the affected skin directly. You can also use it by mixing grated horseradish with buttermilk or apple cider vinegar in a glass container and leaving the mixture to rest for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, strain it apply the mixture on the affected area with the help of a cotton ball. Continue this remedy 3 times daily for one month and you’ll notice the brown spots fade away.

Papaya

Papaya contains certain enzymes that help you in getting rid of skin blemishes, age spots, and acne. Rub grated fresh raw papaya on the dark brown spots.
